Facts, not my opinion: The AC unit in my house turned off, so I call this company the next day. Technician arrive, takes the float switch out and system turns on again. After doing some others checks and show me some gages, he states that the unit ...coil is frozen and the system is out of refrigerant (he never showed me the coil or ice) and the compresor was sucking air. States that the part takes 3 to 6 weeks to arrive. He recommends replacement of the outside and inside unit to a new system they sell because my system is Carrier, made in Mexico and of poor quality (the unit and house are 5 years old). Recommends relocating the new unit to the floor (garage ceiling mount) because new unit will not fit the existing space and ceiling must be modified to fit. The installation can be performed the next day. After I asked several questions, technician gets upset. He offers to add a sealant and to recharge the system for $1,900 no warranty. I say no, he left telling me the estimate of the new system was going to be sent via email. He left the float switch out and hanging. I called another company who arrived the next day, system still working fine. The technician from the new company checks the float switch (hanging) and see that the drain is clog, so the switch was doing its job. He goes outside, connects a vacuum cleaner and I saw how a large amount of algae, dirt and water come out. He reconnected the switch to the drain. He performed others checks; all is fine to include levels of refrigerant.Read More...
