Your Old Air Conditioner Has to Go!

Send Your Old Air Conditioner Packing!
Is your air conditioner more than a decade old? That’s not good. Energy standards have changed. So while your relic of an air conditioner may still work, you could be paying too much in energy costs by running it.
Today’s air conditioners are designed and built with new standards of energy efficiency. Here is what was proposed by the U.S. Department of Energy in September of 2014:

“The Department of Energy (DOE) proposed new efficiency standards today that would slash commercial rooftop air conditioner energy use by about 30%. The proposed standards would achieve the largest national energy savings of any standard ever issued by the U.S. Department of Energy.
“DOE estimates that over the lifetime of units sold over thirty years, the proposed standards would save businesses between $16 and $50 billion and reduce electricity consumption by about 1.3 trillion kilowatt-hours, or enough energy to cool all the commercial buildings in the U.S. for 7 years. The new standards would net a typical building owner between $3,500 and $16,500 over the life of a single commercial rooftop air conditioner.” – American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy

So now that you know new air conditioners are built with government-enforced energy standards, why are you still running that energy-wasting piece of junk? Get a new AC already!

Here are some benefits of getting rid of your old air conditioner and buying a new one:
So Fresh, So Green
Energy efficiency saves money. Yeah yeah, we know. Thank you Captain Obvious! The benefit most people think about first is saving money! Improving your home’s energy efficiency will also create a happier home. And a much happier bank account! Just in case you didn’t read the block quote above, the new efficiency standards on ENERGY STAR-rated appliances can help you reduce your property’s energy consumption by as much as 30%!And we live in Florida, specifically Greater Tampa Bay.  So you know how hot it can get here. And you know how hard your AC has to work to keep your house cool. The harder your old AC has to work, the harder it is on your bank account! Enough said.
Think About the Children
Energy consumption consumes natural resources. Again, thank you Captain Obvious. You’ve probably heard of “reducing your carbon footprint”. An energy efficient air conditioner is a great way to do your part to help the environment. And the less natural resources are consumed, the better off Momma Earth will be able to take care of your children. And their children. And their children’s children. And … you get the point!
Breathe Better Air
Energy efficient air conditioners improve indoor air quality. Air duct cleaning service also increases your AC’s efficiency and contributes to better air quality. Duct cleaning eliminates dust, odors, mold and allergens. So if you want to breathe better while reducing energy consumption, get rid of that old air conditioner. Or start by scheduling regular maintenance and air duct cleaning from (shameless plug) Super Heat & Air!

Feel Cozy
A comfortable home is a happy home. If you read this far into this post, you know a new energy efficient air conditioner improves indoor air quality. So that means you have increased comfort in your cozy home. And the fact that you’ll pay less money to keep your home clean and cool should already make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Prime Your Property
Property improvements equal property value. Much like car buyers who are concerned about gas mileage when purchasing a used vehicle, home buyers look into energy efficiency when considering the purchase of a home. Energy efficient upgrades and improvements such as ENERGY STAR-rated air conditioners can increase property values and help them sell faster. Buyers today are savvier and more energy conscious than ever. So your old air conditioner will scare potential buyers away if you decide to sell.
Tax Time
Tax breaks are a good thing. Did you know that if your AC unit meets new energy requirements, you may be eligible to receive a 30 percent federal tax credit from the IRS? And if you’re not sure whether your air conditioning system is energy efficient, just ask us! Before you file your taxes too, schedule an appointment with us to find out if you qualify for tax breaks!
Seriously, if we haven’t sold you on replacing your old energy-guzzling air conditioner with a new energy efficient AC unit by now, something has to give. We won’t sell you a new air conditioner if you don’t need one. But if you’re wasting money running an old air conditioner, we’ll give you a great deal on a new one!
